As a therapist, I am most interested in finding the path to healing that best serves your needs. I believe every person has immense value. I also believe every person can access wellness. I pursued my social work degree after a 22-year Army career.

Upon retirement, I owned a yoga and meditation studio for ten years, where I developed an understanding of the relationship between our mental health and our physical bodies. I believe that true healing must address the body, mind, and spirit.

Does this mean we are doing yoga in our sessions? It could, but mostly it means I hope to help you create a greater attunement to your mind/body connection to improve your daily comfort as we work together to address the underlying issues causing distress.

Crystal is a certified yoga therapist and specializes in mindfulness,  meditation.  Parts Work, and EMDR.

I view therapy as a collaborative experience and aim to provide care that appreciates your unique, multiple, intersecting layers of identity and experience. We live in a wonderful but difficult world where most of us encounter experiences that can leave us feeling empty, alone, angry, and scared. We develop protective mechanisms and coping strategies to just get through it and survive. Trauma comes in many forms, and despite our best efforts it can leave us feeling stuck. In therapy, I help clients to understand the ways in which they have been protecting themselves, develop self-compassion, and release that stuck traumatic distress. I draw on a number of modalities including parts work, EMDR, mindfulness, attachment work, and psychodynamic interventions. My therapeutic perspective is shaped largely by a commitment to engage in antiracist and LGBTQIA+ affirming care that acknowledges the traumatic impact that systemic inequalities can have on individuals and communities. It’s my goal to help clients recognize how truly resilient they are and feel more free to live into their whole authentic selves.

I received my BA in Sociology from Indiana University and my MSW from Virginia Commonwealth University. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, exploring new places, watching reality television, and (sometimes) making pottery.

I believe people are at their best when they are supported and empowered to live authentically in the world. I understand that each person has unique experiences that help shape who they are and I believe that everyone has the tools within themselves to create the change, peace, or success they desire. I am here to listen, to walk with you through your journey, to provide support, and a judgment-free space. My areas of clinical interest include working with people who have experienced trauma, who feel anxious or depressed, and those who are moving through life transitions or experiencing interpersonal conflict.

I aim to provide a safe and supportive environment for LGBTQ, queer, and gender- expressive people to explore, heal, and find acceptance. Also central to my work is providing support for those who are reconciling identity with religion, religious experiences, and religious trauma. I operate from a strengths- based and trauma informed perspective to empower clients using a variety of therapeutic approaches, including EMDR, CBT, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and Internal Family Systems.

Abby received her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Columbia International University, where she adopted the therapeutic lens of which grace can transform pain and heal trauma. Prior to becoming a RITT Fellow, her previous experience ranges from residential treatment facilities, private practice, and working in-home as a Registered Behavior Technician. While Abby has worked with children and adolescents in a variety of settings, she has found her niche in working with adult men and women, military members, veterans, healthcare workers, and young couples.

Abby's goal is to help her clients move effectively through stressful situations, life’s traumas, and relational difficulties in order to experience more joy and a greater sense of self. Painful events can often cause us to get stuck in unhealthy thoughts, emotions and behaviors that negatively affect every aspect of life. Discovering where and how these patterns began can help bring healing to past wounds, as well as developing new ways of doing life and relationships.
